I've recreated this using kernel version Ubuntu 2.6.24-7.12-generic on
Hardy Heron. The extract from '/var/log/messages' follows:

The programs which are to appear in a given menu must provide that
category in a .desktop file.
It would be most useful to file bugs against any programs which are
available in Ubuntu, but don't provide a menu, or are relevant, but
don't list hamradio as a category.

I had no connectivity when I walked around to the back of my Sun Fire v210 I
noticed no lights on the connected port. I moved the cable to deifferent v210
FTBFS in Hardy PPA and on my machine. Please study the build log:
