Do any of you run ubuntu server edition?
I have some doubts,
(1) is there only Command line interface?
(2) can i install gnome on that and switch user between ubuntu server and
ubuntu?

Here's what I suggest. You already have Ubuntu installed I believe.
Backup your /home on an external drive (pen drive or external HDD).
Make enough space on
The kernel will go to your home directory. It would go someplace else.

mp3, xvid, mpeg2, mpeg1, og, and i suppose about two dozen more, are
codecs, that encode and decode audio, video, or images.
