Hmm previously I think maybe I used to see root and another partition I always
have mounted (/discs/more) and also this luks partition of sda3 that used to
appear in Hardy; I've just tried inserting a USB stick and those do appear.
I suspect the loss of the root icon maybe an expected change?
... then don't enable SHMConfig, or at least not through xorg.conf.

life difficult when people write admin interfaces in Flash (why flash, why?)

The shortcut in the sidebar opens an error message. ('Persönlicher Ordner'
means home directory in German).
See attached screenshot. Happened after clicking on 'Persönlicher Ordner' (with
the blue background).
Should open the home dir.
