This was an interesting one... my monitor is 17 LG L1715S. The monitor,
dock station and laptop all support DDC and I never had to configure it
manually before. So I was a bit confused until I remembered changing the
VGA cable - the new cable has no pin 9, and Wikipedia

resolved by revving the x11 protocol. Presumably something in the
protocol limits the data size to one byte, and would need to be changed

I experienced more or less the same redraw issues, on an up-to-date
Intrepid AMD64 install with a GeForce 8200. The failures to redraw
window contents occur only with desktop-effects turned on, and mostly in
Firefox but sometimes also in other applications. I tried both the
standard 177.82 and the

If I download and compile the 0.9 package from sourceforge, there is no
3D at all. This also occurs with all the svn revisions. Even if I
install the osmesa dev package and do ./configure --enable-osmesam, 3D
still does not exist.

Compilation works fine on another 32 bits system, so maybe it is a 64
bits architecture problem?

I can add another data point for the FramebufferCompression Off fix.
I have a Mac Mini. 8.10 is the first release to come even close to
being able to drive a display from it. I've been experiencing screen
flickering and black screens as described in the initial report as well.
