The problem is that UXA's texture from pixmap doesn't do anything
special to override the alpha channel to unity for 24 bit colour depth

I also have the same problem, ubuntu 8.10 running evolution
2.24.3-0ubuntu1 (ubuntu-proposed repo).
What happens is that if I open MS Outlook and view new/unread emails
(and they get marked as read), those messages won't show up in
Evolution afterwards unless Evolution saw them at the same time

I have a solution!
It was bl**dy app-armor preventing cupsd from reading /etc/krb5.keytab
(required by PAM/Krb5) and apparantly preventing it writing a ticket
cache into /tmp.
used aa-complain /usr/sbin/cupsd to disable AppArmor enforcement and
that's fixed the problem.

problem. the Xorg server might also be relevant (since that is where

Xorg crashed with Failed to allocate CMM buffer (size=16384,
alignment=4096)! in AddScreen() as a result of a call to atiddxLoadLogo() in
fglrx
This is definitely a kernel bug. I have an affected dongle and I'm a
developer, so I'll be able to look at it in a few days.
Until then, if someone could bisect the kernel and find the bad commit,
or at least narrow it down, it could speed things up a lot.

things that are drastically improved.
