needs rework to not expect to do everything in the postinst, and a

I have just installed 8.10 on a new machine that has a Intel 3100
graphics and Samsung 205BW monitor (lspci attached). Sometimes I can
get to login screen and the graphics are perfect, but most of the time
the screen just blanks out. I can still login 'in the dark' because
