I tried to boot karmic livecd,the computer starts normally but when xserver
starts i see a black screen and my mouse

I tried safe graphics mode but i am getting an error like this form:

I noticed a vital clue which I missed before.
My mouse is responsive, but no clicks are registered (as if I never
clicked), I can move the mouse around the screen. The keyboard is
unresponsive apart from sys-req. I did not think to check the caps lock
led. I will do this next time the crash
I think this problem is solved. I'm not experiencing any issues with entering
suspend at the moment.

I still have to use 'alsamixer -c 0' in order to activate the headphones output
with 0.9.16~test4-0ubuntu6.
With PA gnome applet (gnome-volume-control-pulse) I can change the connector to
'Analog Headphones'. But nothing more. I have to select 'Analog Output' and use
'alsamixer -c 0' to unmute.

But if you want you can open another specially for this microphone problem.
Don't forget a reference to these bugs (here #252119 and #409759). 'File the
bug against alsa-base, with the ubuntu-bug command, like so: ubuntu-bug
Not only did that not fix the touchpad problem, when I rebooted I discovered
that Ubuntu will not even boot up. It appears that a new kernal was
installed and gnome seems to start but I only get the command line. Now I
have to reinstall ubuntu just to get it to work.

Kupfer should use the working dir where it's started. When started from
an application launcher, this becomes the home directory automatically.
The ubuntu packaging patches kupfer to be installed into
/usr/share/kupfer and changes dir to this when launching kupfer, so it's
not strictly *kupfer's*

My Ubuntu 9.04 64bit completely froze today (no mouse pointer, no responses to
ssh connect) after 7 hours of use.

I found the problem in SeString.c file line 107. I attached the patch
file.
But it seems to be related to Debian patch file (seyon_2.20c-29.diff.gz
at line 2225).
