I would tell u to get the gstreamer packages from the Ubuntu repositories.
There are gstreamer-good gstreamer-bad and gstreamer-ugly packages that
solve my problem. As you are new to Ubuntu, you can get the Ubuntu
repositories over Package-Manager.

It seamed that wine is not able to run each and every windows application
efficiently. I had same problem with Adobe photoshope CS2, Counter strike
etc some of the the software i commonly use. i think it is advisable to go
for linux version of that s/w. Ubuntu linux repositories
