Reliable mounting of NFS shares at boot is hard in Karmic, and error
messages always appear (bug #504224), but I haven't seen the rpc.statd
errors after the RC. (bug #431248) Are you using the latest updates?
Also, try with just 'defaults' as option.

There has to be a quirk in the kernel that basically says: If the
computer is an Optiplex 745, then default to reboot=bios. So you are

One solution that helped me a bit (just one or two seconds faster) is the
following (taken from ):
1. $ sudo su
1. % for x in /var/lib/apt/lists/*Packages;do dpkg

I don't seem to have the problem anymore on Karmic 32bit with Gnuplot
4.2.5-2. Can someone confirm whether this is still an issue?

But this seems more like a Restricted Drivers Manager issue - did you activate
the b43legacy driver manually or was it chosen automatically by the system?
