Using pasuspender -- /usr/bin/gtk-recordMyDesktop as suggested removes
the error alright, but also sound, unfortunately.
So this is really not a solution if you need to record sound as I do.

With the fix I still have a: Error converting to loadable format in lyx for
pdf pictures.
despite I cannot see pdf pictures in lyx since Karmic, I never had problem to
export as pdf using pdflatex as the reporter of this bug has.
Maybe these two problems do not come from the same issue.

I can confirm this, I've got the same problem on Kubuntu 9.10 when running
tomboy.
Strange thing is, tomboy looks perfectly fine when run from the command line or
from Alt+F2 (KRunner) but looks ugly when started from kde menu.
It happens that the kde menu launch tomboy --search ; if you remove

After a fresh reboot sometimes Pulseaudio Volume Meter recorder shows
mic working briefly. But soon dies after a few minutes.

jimav - your issue is not a bug, but rather a broken configuration. By
default, ghelp URI's are opened in Yelp, which would work fine. If it's
attempting to open it in Firefox then you (or something) has changed the
handler for ghelp URI's on your profile. Firefox isn't designed to
handle ghelp
