The GDM wallpaper uses same as main wallpaper of Ubuntu, but the GDM wallpaper
not smooth as main wallpaper. It has a bit sharp and noise. The main wallpaper
also has a problem. In the dark area (left down corner), the color has some
noise and not smooth. My laptop is 1280*800.

Вообще тут по-любому с tc/iptables разбираться надо.
Для начата стоит попробовать wondershaper , есть в репах, в принципе
работает, динамически пытаять назначить
Можно еще повесить на сетевой интерфейс разные адреса и в настройках ПО
каждой проге свой IP назначить.
Тогда спокойно можно шейпить по ip-адресам траффик разных прог.

Well, I'm also out of really good ideas, but if you have the time, I guess you
just have to continue investigating and trying combinations of what causes high
latencies and what don't. E g trying Karmic with a different kernel, trying a
preemptive kernel, a mainline kernel, etc.

Mode but accessing the documentation/manuals for it.

I added a new user via System/Administration/Users and Groups
It wasn't pretty (see newuser.png attached) -- I got a green background,
with a few icons on the desktop, and 3 toolbars:
top, bottom, right side.
And an error when I tried to logout. logout.png
