I retried this after package installation. On the Install Grub to boot
sector screen I switched to tty2 and back, and again, the screen was
the same vertical line mess as displayed in the screen shot.

I cannot reproduce the original crash on this report but i can confirm
that the proposed package is working fine, I've been using it for a
couple of days and cd burning works ok, no regressions were noticed,

I also have found this behavior to be a problem for our soon to be 60
workstation 200 user LDAP/NFS environment. We are running Ubuntu
10.04/amd64, autofs mounted NFS with rootsquashing on.

Hi, I installed the xorg-edgers ppa and the 2.6.35-rc3 kernel from the
link you provided. Unfortunately, I can't troubleshoot the initial bug
as now the screen just flashes a square white/grey box (looks like 4:3
on my 16:10 monitor). Switching to vt1 gives a black screen. I can still

I had the problem after installing NVIDIA proprietary driver. Deinstalling this
driver solved the problem. May be it is not a special cups problem: As already
mentioned above virtual consoles did not work while NVIDIA proprietary driver
was installed.

the same PPD as you are using, I get correct PostScript output and my HP
LaserJet P3005 (PostScript printer) prints it correctly.
Can you turn on the function to print error pages in your printer's
front panel menus? Perhaps

Common to Ubuntu 10.04 and Mint 9, Gparted will not see or perform any
functions on Fakeraid arrays. The biggest impediment and the one most a
problem is that unless the target partition(s) is pre-formatted with
gparted run in an earlier version of the OS the installof 10.04

I cannot reproduce on Ubuntu 10.04; I am able to configure Canada -
Multilingual and type.
~/.xsession-errors did not show any errors.
/var/log/Xorg.0.log shows no errors in generating the XKM file.
