you will be treading on any toes by taking it up.
As you can see by the previous posts the issue here has been finding a
way to implement this so that it can be cross platform. What are the
API's you are purposing to use to
(In reply to comment #48)
This doesn't depend on GTK 3.0. The API's to get this information from the
platform have existed already for a long time.
There are API's to get this information, yes, but GTK3 comes with an
application selector dialog which would make fixing this bug much
easier.

I would have to agree with Michael, using the supplied GTK3 dialog is a
good long term fix, it will require little maintenance once implemented,
and will present the user with a consistent dialog across the desktop
once other applications start to implement this generic application
selector.

Th e problem is not users adding system paths, the problem is gnome-
panel allows no user overrides. The only way to modify the path is to
modify the global /etc/profile. Gnome-panel should be overridden by
~/.profile.

I should update, /etc/profile doesn't work. ~/.gnomerc does obliging my
concerns of modifying global env variables for local settings.

The root partition is supposed to be referred to by UUID so the change
in name should not matter. I wonder if this is a result of the system
originally being installed from a much older distro, and then upgraded
to 10.04. On upgrade to 10.04 from an older release, the older grub
leagacy is left

I'm having similar problems with my t420s with the intel integrated

monitor. The failure is intermittent and suspend/resume seems to clear
up the issue ( reloading the module? ). Vague steps to reproduce:
1. Plug in external
