I've gone through couple of blogs for creating local mirrors but not sure if

Hello all,
This is Anurag Jain from SASTRA University and I'm a regular college
going student.
I've been using UBUNTU right from my first year, approximately 2 years and I am
very much interested in contributing to the open source world. We have an open
source community "GNU/LI
computer to UBUNTU 7.10, and
then his existing internal modem configuration also got lost. Now, neither
his internal modem nor broadband is working.
I am not sure if it was really worth sending him a UBUNTU laptop. This whole
thing has been extremely annoying.

The laptop has an internal modem and my parents have been unable to
configure it. They live in Lansdowne and there are no hopes of getting
broadband there. They will be in Delhi for few days in first week of June,
so I was wondering if somebody could help them there in configuring it.

The place where my parents live they can only get Dial-up modem. They are in
Delhi for a few days only.
The laptop only has a 56kbps dial up modem.

Hi Francis!
If you have internet connection, try Automatix, it will install a lot of
things for you which you want. One of the important things is multimedia
codecs which are required to play a lot of files. You can find more details
at their website. http://getautomatix.com/.

Hi, I promised long back in UBUNTU-INDIA forum that I will burn CDs and DVDs for repositories of essential programs and ship it to the people who may need it in India with poor internet connections. As the release of dapper is just a couple of days away, I think its the right time for users to requ
ep by step guide should be UBUNTU itself, and there are a couple
of books available for that.
Welcome to all the new members. It's a great addition to the community.
