It does happen when I'm authenticated and yes I can reproduce it
reliable even with kernel 2.6.31-12-generic and openafs 1.4.11+dfsg-1.

Yes, Karmic shows the exact same behaviour. The only difference is that
/bin/sh points to /bin/dash nowdays, however creating a link to

Works better if I turn on the plugin in evolution, but on the other hand
then evolution crashes and I get the following message in mail-

I have the same problem on an updated (as of 2008-10-04) Intrepid, with
4 cities (Ängelholm, Stockholm, Umeå and Niagra Falls) defined. I have
to set the home location every time I log in.
I don't have any /etc/timezone
The machine was installed last summer on 'Ubuntu 7.10 _Gutsy Gibbon_ -

In gnome-sound-properties when using the Ubuntu sound theme, disabling
one sound-effect (for instance the login-sound), disables all sound-
effects as the theme is switched from Ubuntu to custom and thus the
sound-effect is no longer

Using an up-to-date Intrepid with compiz there has been no audiable
system beep since the snd_pcsp has been blacklisted. The Alert sound in
gnome-sound-properties works, but the system beep is not routed to it.
