driver with a cuda workload. This is the same testing I would execute
for the nvidia server drivers (for example:
@rbalint, we have not seen the same issue with the 4.15 linux-aws-hwe
kernels used in xenial. At this time, the backport to xenial is not
necessary.

verifying that there is no sound from them.

And a log from after I use pavucontrol to manually enable the 17h audio
controller while the headphones are plugged in, and confirming that they
do work as they used to.

checking Gnome settings Sound, Output Device is "Dummy Output" (no other
