Same problem.
I've installed Ubuntu 7.04 in three different PC and can confim that the
sound-recorder does not work.
The progress bar is grey, when I try to record it does't move.
The problem is also with Audacity that works with audio file but can't record.
The Mixer Toolbar is absent.

The strange is that few days ago I was able to download the pictures without
problems.
