I noticed that the `kubuntu-settings-desktop` package was marked by
`apt` as `Residual config`. So I attempted to reinstall it using `sudo
apt-get install --reinstall kubuntu-settings-desktop` and that seems to
have fixed the missing icon. This appears to be a workaround for this
issue.

Oops, looks like Youtube had issues with my .ogv file. Here is the
correct link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2BU2E7ldPA. Even though
the speaker volume was 100% before connecting the headphones, it gets
set to 0 after disconnecting the headphones when it gets unmuted.

Compiz crashes often with current latest package. I have avant-window-
navigator dock installed. Whenever compiz crashes, it automatically
reloads, but on reload, the avant dock becomes invisible, i.e., it is
present exactly where it was before the crash, but it is invisible.

Lightdm login screen always shows the volume as muted even if it
wasn't muted by user

Press Super key.
Dash shows up.
Type to search in the dash.
No text is typed because the focus is not in the dash.
Click on the dash text box to get focus. The issue doesn't appear again.

Shutdown menu shows updates available even when no updates are
available

On resuming from hibernation, the whole desktop area appears distorted
whereas the panel, unity launcher and avant window navigator dock all
appear fine. Screenshot attached shows the distorted desktop. My laptop
has a Nvidia 8600M GS graphics card for which I have installed
