I just discovered a simple workaround for the problem: disable the
splash screen (System Settings -> Workspace Theme -> Splash Screen ->
Set Theme to "None").
Now the KDE Desktop shows instantly after I login and everything is
working immediately (including the network). Could this be a problem
Unfortunately the latest kernel (4.4.0-28-generic) has not fixed the
issue on my machine.

I also have the same symptoms (Kubuntu 16.04, all packages up to date):
Upon login the progress bar fills quickly (3-4 seconds to reach 100%)
and then there is a long pause (>20 seconds) before the desktop finally
appears. However, when I run systemd-analyze blame there is no obvious

After rdesktop login to Windows Machine copy and paste is completely
broken: I am unable to use copy and paste to paste between linux and
windows, and I am ALSO unable to use copy and paste inside the remote
machine at all (eg. copy a file in windows explorer).
Similar Problem here. Dell Latitude E6400 , Intel Corporation Wireless
WiFi Link 5100, Kubuntu 9.10 . Everything worked perfectly until I
linux-image-2.6.31-16-generic got installed. Now the wireless option is
disabled in knetworkmanager, although the wlan0 interface exists and can
be configured

Similar Problem here on my Dell E6500 (Intel Corporation Wireless WiFi
Link 5100).
Using the Network Manager I am unable to connect to a wireless network.
Using th commandline iwlist scan sometimes finds my wireless network
and sometimes it does not. But no matter if the network is found I am

I am having the same problem on Kubuntu Hardy (with the latest ATI drivers).
Unfortunately the settings suggested by Dorgendubal did not fix this issue for
me, but I have found another (dirty) workaround:
Dont use the Logout button on the K-Menu but rather just kill the
XServer using

Bug still present as of this writing. Sending a file from my Nokia 6600
to the computer immediately gives the error message Sending Failed.
Transferring files from computer to cellphone works fine.

Am experiencing the same problems since the update I did today. Am
attaching some dmesg output (it says something about bug together with
ACPI so I am guessing it might be useful):

I can confirm this. 2.6.20-12 is bootable again. 2.6.20-13 still hangs
at the Loading ACPI modules step. The dmesg output I posted above
still occurs when the boot process hangs.

Overall the update went very smoothly. The only nitpick being that the
adept updater reports an error the cleanup stage (as was reported above
already). After that the system automatically reboots into feisty and
everything seems to be working
