aptd triggers memory swap just after the startup
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: aptdaemon
Just after logging in. I need to launch my applications.
However aptd is running at the same time and it is consuming a lot of
memory.
This can lead my system to swap memory to my disk and thus it slows down
the whole system.
This gives the

I don't know well the underlying but it seems that it would consume 8 MB
of additionnal memory even if python is running in an other process: 15
MB of physical memory made of 7 shared (with other instances of python
?) and 8 MB specific to the applet.

You're true. /etc/cron.d/anacron is taking care of this possible issue
by starting anacron if the computer was alive for more than 1 day
(checked on Lucid).
Thus marking this bug as invalid. Sorry for the time lost.

Hello,
I'm the current developer of xfce4-screenshooter. What you propose is
not intuitive for most users, if you don't show any save dialog and save
in a folder which can change, you will sooner or later end looking for
your screenshots. This feature used to be available and it was a pain.

On the same configuration, the new lucid version needs 6 seconds instead
of 7 with karmic for guessing the configuration, thus quite the same
duration.

The default timestamp printed into the log files has the below format:
May 24 12:31:05
By allowing a shorter timestamp format, I think we could :
- speed-up the whole system by lowering I/O volume
- make the later log processing faster
