I can confirm the described behavior on x86_64 oneiric, gwibber
v3.2.0.1.
Xorg and gwibber processes use a lot of cpu cycle, I think the issue
might be caused by the transparency level of the Status box.

tilda does not work well with some shell (the one in the SHELL variable), try
SHELL=/bin/bash tilda
a workaround is to use the option run a custom command.

- type edit your_dom_or_machine_name (this allows you to edit the xml
config file of the guest)
- locate the line graphics type='vnc' ... and remove any reference to
keymap
- the line should look like this : graphics type='vnc' port='5900'
