Me too on Hardy with KDE 4.1 (USB-Stick with german Umlauts which works
normal when using pmount).
Even tried KDE 4.1 on ArchLinux (which is pretty vanilla) - its the same
there.

it is _not_ clearly reproducable here - it happens only sometimes. Maybe
it happens only when firefox was running for some longer time (I use
hibernation aka suspend2disk, so the same instance may be in use over
several days). It happens here since Ubuntu Edgy (if I remember right)

It happend again right when trying to boot the first menu entry for the
second time and each time after that.
Manual booting from grub command line worked without problems, but at command
savedefault it sayed :
Error 27: command not recognized
Booting an alternative entry with same kernel
Additional comment:
usplash_down seems to be invoked by /etc/init.d/sendsigs too on reboot and
shutdown, but _after_ all services are stopped and all remaining processes are
terminated - which is nearly useless as it is too late IMHO.

OK - now I did
mysql -u root -p
grant select on mysql.* to mythtv@192.168.178.% identified by mythtv;
flush privileges;
exit
to grant right to read database mysql to user mythtv which I use for
doing backups with mysql-admin and now it works with the new version
too. (Many thanks to Adam Majer)
OK - the last line from mysql.log which I got after enabling logging on
the server was:
Access denied for user 'mythtv'@'192.168.178.%' to database 'mysql'
So I think at least the error message given by mysql-admin should be
'Access denied for database mysql' or similar, but not only 'SQL-Error'

OK ... did some reboots now for testing. Problem showed up one time and
patched script reacted und wait seemed to fix things. That means
/dev/hda6 realy didn't exist when first test occured (realy strange).
Unfortunately message was resume: 66: log_begin_msg not found so I
have to submit a fixed
Please don't beat me - had to fix it again. :-/
$RESUME is not exported use $resume now for panic message.
(It should never come so far any way.)

I'm sorry, but I dont know how to build python-apt 0.6.20ubuntu13 on feisty
(upgraded meanwhile)
apt-get source does not work (seems to be not in the list file)
Did manual download of dsc and tgz, but it insists on 0.6.20ubuntu12
(and dpkg -b finds no DEBIAN/config)

But I could boot it again by simply using an older version of grub
_without_ any change to the disks. Additionaly my root is entierly above
cyl. 1023 as you can see here:
$sudo fdisk -l
Disk /dev/hda: 80.0 GB, 80026361856 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 9729 cylinders
Units = cylinders of
Now I tried with
nvidia 2.6.17.7-11.1-9746
from http://nvidia.limitless.lupine.me.uk edgy/stable
This version seems to work without problems.
