Change the video output to XCB & it closes properly .
I set it on XCB & then revert it to automatic & WOW it now closes properly as
well.

I was installing ubuntu but at the ending part it showed an error about
grub boot loader install failure. I tried "boot-repair" tool using the
live system and it seemed to be fixed but after restarting the system I
had an error message that says grub still has problems...
Proposed update fixed the issue on an old Intel 1st gen Core i5-M450
with integrated Ironlake graphics

desktop screen
To manage
This bug makes unity, completely unusable. The only solution now is to
change the desktop environment. I tried LXDE and Budgie and no one had
an issue on the same system.

With the updated version everything works fine, except for the case of browsing
into /scratch on a remote server. I just renamed a file on such a location
(/scratch on a remote server) and it instantly turned into a broken symbolic
link (and I lost 5 GB of very precious data!!)
