i had same problem. i fixed it by changing CD (DVD) drive. DVD which had marks of "Sony Nec Optiarc" failed installing @ ~ 77% (sorry, i have no more details on CD cause it's barebone system)
old CD-R/RW drive SONY (CRX230AD) works ok. CD was same. other hardware same.
