Just for the sake of it, I got this problem and it had nothing to do with
plymouth. It was caused by a 13.04 update which removed /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d
along with exynos5.conf. I just had to do this:
- get into ChromeOS shell (Ctrl-Alt-[←])
- log in as chronos, then sudo su -
- make some
OBS.: I got exynos5.conf file from this script:

Public bug reported:
Even though Guake has X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=false in its
/etc/xdg/autostart desktop file, it starts automatically in KDE. I do
not know if it is a failure of Guake or anything else; but it was sort
of fixed by adding NotShowIn=KDE to its desktop file.

I was going through a deb package building tutorial at
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhoRyd2CEVs and it used Ubuntu. It
mentions a few example rules files under
/usr/share/doc/debhelper/examples: rules.multi, rules.multi2, rules.arch
and rules.indep. I noticed that the
make install? COME ON! This is too reckless. What's the point in having
a system with such a sophisticated package management if you try to opt
out of it by scattering files around the filesystem? You should be
ashamed.
This is a more responsible recipe (run as root):
$ sudo su -
# apt-get
I have a GeForce 440 MX, it uses driver -96 and worked perfectly with
the Xorg that comes with 12.04. 2:1.11.4-0ubuntu10.2. However, I
installed the latest -96 driver from NVIDIA site: NVIDIA-

How can that be the problem? I used nfs4 on Ubuntu 11.10 and user
mapping was working.

Never mind what I said. Uncommenting the line Domain = localdomain on
/etc/idmapd.conf solved the problem. It seems that Ubuntu 12.04 comes
with different defaults; on my 11.10 client machine, this line is
uncommented.

Public bug reported:
I was using a simple scheme for DNS resolution before upgrading from
11.10 to 12.04: there are three interfaces on the computer, eth0 is the
main one, acquires IP and DNS automatically from 10.0.0.1, which is also
the default route.
But after upgrade to the new DNS scheme on
