[Bug 898807] Re: Clicking Install Updates button causes Update Manager window to gray out and become unresponsive; updates do not get installed

2012-03-19 Thread Paul Hubert
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 894671 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/894671 My update-manager does not freeze. Its Install updates simply fails to function. The button permits me to click but it performs nothing. Likewise, software center will not update. I completely removed,

Thanks for the response, but I'm a bit reluctant to venture into a complete reinstall. It doesn't seem as though the problem with update-manager AND computer-janitor should be difficult. AND I see from another forum that I'm not the only one experiencing failure on both of these in 10.10.

I AM able to update manually OR through Synaptic. So I have gotten updates TO update manager. That said, I suspect the bug is NOT an update manager bug but, as I may have said elsewhere, possibly some switch that is set when it should not be. But where? AND is it related to the computer

Just found out that Computer Janitor is also non-functional. As with Update Manager, I removed completely and then reinstalled. No dice. I am unable to Unselect All or to run the cleanup. It THINKS I have something like Synaptic running (which I didn't) ... ran right after boot and killed

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs I upgraded from 64 bit Ubuntu 10.4 to 10.10. Following the upgrade, the Install updates function in Update Manager no longer worked. I REMOVED Update Manager and then downloaded and reinstalled it, via Synaptic to no avail. Similarly, the

The 'bug' then consisted of an INSTALL -changing- the spellchecker language setting. In my case, I had to change it BACK to en-US in both FF and Tbird. So, there WAS no 'bug' in Firefox. -- After the 3.6.11 install my spell check is flagging EVERY WORD https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/664525

I was thinking that might be the problem but didn't know where to look - it's set to es-GT and I do NOT know how that was CHANGED. But, how does that affect Thunderbird?? On 10/21/2010 07:41 AM, Chris Coulson wrote: What dictionary are you using? (ie, what is the setting of
