Public bug reported:
When I restart after updating kubuntu tribe beta gusty, almost always
the laptop freezes. When this happens the screen appears black with some
strange symbols, some flashing and some static. I think it is when the
update is done from kde.

It's not automatic. Maybe a question of thresholds in pommed.
With applesmc loaded, you'll get access to the light sensors and kb led
via sysfs. pommed is said to be able to adjust these automatically. The
keyboard shortcuts work in console and X, as long as you don't use the
evdev driver for X.
I reported this in alsa-dev and their bugtrack-system some time ago, with
little response.
Maybe someone from ubuntu likes to dig into this some more? I've no idea why it
still doesn't work...

To clarify: There is currently no way to adjust display brightness in
linux.
A low-level interface needs to be written that adjusts the right bits in
the hardware.
Pommed works with macbook rev3, but as long as such an interface does
not exist the pommed only calls a dummy function when the
With the parameter model=w2jc, current versions of alsa are confirmed to
work partially.
Speakers and Mic work, the LineIn can be reconfigured to LineOut via the
'Channel' setting in the mixer. Headphones do however not work. With

Same problem.
I've installed Ubuntu 7.04 in three different PC and can confim that the
sound-recorder does not work.
The progress bar is grey, when I try to record it does't move.
The problem is also with Audacity that works with audio file but can't record.
The Mixer Toolbar is absent.
