Generally this is caused by not having an appropriate driver for your
chipset[s] in xorg.conf, or that your chipset[s] is/are not supported by
any of the drivers. Post your Xorg.0.log located here:
/var/log/Xorg.0.log and the xorg.conf file that you're using, and set
the status back to new here.
You're eventually going to have to look at the hidden files. You can
toggle whether files/folders are hidden in nautilus by pressing Ctrl+H.
I don't see how this is a cURL issue though... Since actual file browser
is doing what it should (not bothering about hidden files whilst they
are hidden),
