Today, the lucid thunderbird update helper asked if I wanted to reimport
thunderbird-2 profile settings or keep the thunderbird-3-beta ones. I selected
the latter, thunderbird did not start.
I then found the self-referencing symlink .thunderbird and deleted it.

I can confirm that the password is echoed without a VT switch. For some
reason usplash exits while setting up the swap, a few lines over the
current cursor I’ll find my passphrase in plaintext. Which must have
been echoed there prior to exiting usplash and there was no manual vt-
switching.

I can confirm this for intrepid. I was trying to play a network-file
(smb://...) which did fine for mplayer, vlc and totem, but kaffeine
failed.
It works if the file is dragdropped into kaffeine (this is an easy workaround
once found out).
It does not work if the file is opened from nautilus.
This is going to be fixed in the next release (wput-0.6.2) introducing a
--disable-tls option.

I just rerun the tests after reinstalling the gnutls-library and all of a
sudden I cannot reproduce this problem anymore. I don't know if the library was

The issue is still present with the current firefox (upgrade within
gutsy due to the libnss related spell-cheching crashes). CA-certificates
are present on the system but are not showed/recognized within firefox.
All builtin object tokens within the security-preferences are missing.
