Binary package hint: beagle
I have beagle installed, but still got Places = Search for Files...
which opens the regular gnome search program.
In earlier gnome versions instead of that, there was a Search menu
item when beagle was installed, which started the beagle search
Yep, workaround works.

Doesn't work with herd-5. Haven't tried workarounds, it should work out
of the box anyway.

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gbackground
I haven't found a simple way to daemonize this application. I want my
background picture to always change when I'm logged in, but gbackground
always needs to be started first (with GUI etc.).
** Affects: gbackground (Ubuntu)
Importance:
I'll reinstall with herd-5 today or tomorrow (depending on when they
manage to release it) and we'll see. :-)

At the least, ubuntu-restricted-extras should depend on sun-java5 |
sun-java6, so it'll still install java5 as dep, but if somebody (like
us Java devs) has installed java6, it won't install java5 additionally.

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver
I just reinstalled feisty from daily-live (g-s 2.17.7-0ubuntu4) and -
like with the last herd-4 install - there was no screensaver theme set.
Earlier, the default was random, but now there is none at all.
** Affects: gnome-screensaver
Happens here as well.
** Changed in: gimmie (Ubuntu)
Status: Unconfirmed = Confirmed

Jamie: It has been fixed upstream in December 2006... I'm pretty sure
that fixed version is already in Ubuntu, but still broken.
