You are probably right about the misconfiguration of /etc/grub.d/windows. My Dell Studio XPS is configured for dual boot to Microsoft Windows 7. If I want to boot to Windows, I press the Shift key which brings up the menu and lets me choose Windows - if I do nothing, it boots into Ubuntu Linux.
