Multimedia -> Audio Volume -> Advanced. After next boot the audio is
gone. Pulseaudio refuses to start. And while the pulseaudio

I upgraded from Kubuntu 14.10 to 15.04 release and was greeted with this
problem. I don't think also that Invalid flag is correct here. A real
problem. Black screen on boot after update is not nice. Fortunately I
found this - selecting upstart boot I was able to get the system
working.

Hello,
I'm using Kubuntu 11.10. It worked nicely at the beginning. But due to
some kernel update the sound broke. I booted with an old 11.10 kernel

definitely the kernel and not KDE.

The sound still comes out. But it is not fun to listen to. KDE
constantly tries to switch the output between the Analog Output and
Headphones.

probably mention that I went ahead and installed the experimental mesa
package as well to get the 3D support.

If I go CTRL + ALT + F1 before the freeze, I can use the computer fully
in the non-graphical system without any freezes. So the problem has
something to do with the graphical user interface (xorg, intel,
xfce..?)...

I installed Xubuntu Karmic BETA on the laptop. The installation went
perfectly. The system is usable after installation, no problems. I can
install new packages and do pretty much everything. Reboot after reboot
and it works. BUT if I do a dist-upgrade and reboot the problems
QTCurve 0.69 is out now with quite a few fixes. Please upload this to
Karmic!

The author of QTCurve has already fixed the bug and plans to release

I've filed another bug about a similar case. Later I've found out that
Amarok has something to do with this. Amarok works always, but it is the
one that breaks the sound from other applications.

Digital output dies after awhile on Kubuntu Karmic with HDA Intel
And it is not related to a certain hardware it seems. I got this in
another computer with Asus AMD board's integrated sound.
