myself, have it enabled for a long time.
However, there is a lot of work that remains is
noway, the original reporter's issue is one for him, so you are likely
experiencing something with a different cause.
At this point, you will want to use version 5, annd if you still see
thie problem then try creating a new profile
(correction) the original reporter's issue is Gone

I just realized that Thunderbird doesn't scroll the message list at all. It
seems to repopulate the content of the message list pane line-wise on
mousewheel turn or on moving the thumb in the slider, which imitates scrolling
to some extent.
