On my machine this is independent from the GSConnect extension. I did
not have it installed and installing/removing makes no difference. Bug
is there and is so consistently.

Download .deb file, right click it and select 'Extract here'. Now you
have a folder called 'evolution-exchange_2.30.3-2_i382'. Browse in

Also happens on a Vaio VGN-SR39VN using an ATI HD3400 with ATI Drivers
(8.723.1). Volume using the Fn+F3/F4 works fine but brightness with
Fn+F5/F6 does nothing. Everything worked fine on Karmic.
