thanks, i will do the lsmod.I did have the restricted driver installed and like I said, everything (!) is working under the old kernel 2.6.24-9. when the update manager switched me to the first 2.6.24-11 and the network manager got its updates (a few weeks ago) all the problems started. first

well, unfortunately I don't even have the old kernel. I was using wireless and after deciding that the new kernel seems stable I removed the old one. then I went home, connected to my wired network and vola nothing. I can't get it to see my router or get any IP from eth0. I searched around
