My hardware: Turion ML-34, 256 MB (32 MB for the utterly useless graphics card), etc. Here is my lspci output, if that might help. (Btw. what is the name of the memory-controller or whatever which is shown in memtest? mine is AMD-8000. Just asking because i am having severe memory corruption. :-( -

Actually You should try the fix too. The bug has been filed twice on launchpad for Sis. I beleive ti does get rectified but it brings in a new error involving APCI or something of that sort. Im on dialup so I find it hard to get that loaded :( . Nanbudh should have the link . So just send him a

@Nan : I'm pretty sure you're doing something terribly wrong.. I have Gusty running smooth on my AMD .. The only thing i cant get working is the Wifi as the Atheros drivers are not supported.. I got the graphics card, bluetooth, sound , to work.. None of my apps crash.. I do have slow boots at time

Hi folks, I managed to install Gutsy AMD64 on my acer aspire 5000 laptop. I have 256 MB RAM, out of which 32 MB is reserved as graphics memory. However, the kernel only 'detects' 150 MB main memory.(according to 'free'). My system naturally runs real sluggish due to this. Where did the ~70 MB go?
