This is something that was never really cleared up properly. We have some apps using 'Wastebasket', some using 'Wastebin' and the untranslated ones remaining as 'Trash'. We ended up deciding to change everything to 'Deleted Items'. Correspondingly, all 'Delete' functions were to become 'Permanently Delete' and 'Move to Wastebasket/Wastebin/etc' were to be 'Move to Deleted Items folder'. You can see this documented on our wiki at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/EnglishTranslation#Table%20of%20common%20translations The problem is that it every really caught on, and instead of harmonising everything we just made it worse by adding another synonym for the rubbish bin. The best way to solve this would be to go upstream to GNOME, KDE and so on, and get them to decide on something consistent for their en_GB translations.
