Hello everbody, looking back at the end of the year, I must say, I'm deeply impressed, how professional the MOTU world has become. The problem of merges or C++ transition uploads (because of the huge lists), wasn't really one for us. We developed the infrastructure to use Malone and you all did incredibly good work and I'd like to thank you for that.
We have one date, we should really bear in mind: January 19th UpstreamVersionFreeze - I'm not sure if we reached a final decision, when we discussed it, but if we can wangle it, we should get an additional 1-2 weeks. In my opinion, we should get all the new source in we want to have for the Dapper release. There will be exceptions (AptGetOrg will be one of them), but I think we shouldn't rely on them. Focus on getting new REVU packages in, focus on merges (they allow us relatively cheap 'Updates') and if user request new Upstream versions, go for it. After that we should concentrate on getting new MOTUs in, on fixing bugs and on forming teams, who can take care of bugs as a group. If you're interested in something particular, form a team, let Reinhard (thank you) handle a bug mailing list for you and start getting people in that team. Our mailing list has getting fuller and fuller everyday, so I daresay there are quite a lot of people just waiting to get involved. I think we will make Dapper the best release ever. Universe will be stable, but still colourful and diverse. Thanks for all your brilliant work and get a nice rest during the holidays, so we can rock on in January.
