how can I sync an updated package from Debian?

mono is already 1.9.1, which is updated in Debian Lenny http://packages.debian.org/source/lenny/mono However in Ubuntu it is still only 1.2.6, but it seems to be lack of people to update mono and the original maintainer seems to be busy. what is the proper procedure to sync the Debian 1.9.1 to U
