Hello Matthias,
your reference about warnings on cigarette packages in Europe and other
countries could rather scare people off of Ubuntu or make them not care and
ignore such warnings like smokers do. You are not very constructive here.

I'm sure that, recently, someone posted a shell command to restart the Unity UI
if it goes a bit wobbly. I've spent ages looking through the archives and my
old messages, but I can't find it. Can anyone shed any light on this, please -
I'm sure it was quite straightforward: either a "service"

It would be nice if the battery firmware (or whatever low-level
code converts its voltage to a percent) would stop trying so hard
to be smart. Sometimes dumb is better.

I'm selling my BQ Aquarius E4.5 ubuntu edition. I got it in March and it
is in a good state. Is anyone interested to buy it?

In Console App I'd like the keyboard to be in the upper area and be transparent.
This way the Console used all the screen. New inputs would be completely

Hello,
Is it somehow possible to schedule an alarm from a script running in
background as user 'phablet', or from its cronjob? The idea is to expand
my already existing cronjob (which monitors the battery level) to insert
an alarm on 'now + 5 secs' to make the user (i.e. my wife) aware of the

Take a backup, but if you are editing that file you might have to stop

Essentially it is the same hardware as in 4.5 but with 5" HD screen.
Other spec delta's (in brackets: Aquaris 4.5):
* battery 2500 mAh (2150 mAh)
* internal storage 16 GB (8 GB)
* 3.5 mm jack for TRRS (CTIA) have no idea
* FM Radio is gone from the "Functions" section
* 13 MP rear camera (8 MP)
I've just ordered an E5. Does anyone have one that can comment on the
performance compared to the E4.5. I'm curious as what I can expect. Its a
little disappointing that it only comes with 1GB RAM. Is that likely to be
a limiting factor for the performance like when multi-tasking?

It was, since the battery was drained to 0, no sign of life even when
touching the power button.
I had to disconnect the charger and reconnect it, then the charge started
again, waited some time and then I could turn it on again.

Maybe I was not clear, but the phone _was_ charging when I went to bed!
It went up to 100% and then suddenly it stopped charging and the battery
got drained.

relying on a phone that is not charging would not be logical to me.

The update to Ubuntu 14.10 (r22) on the BQ Aquaris E4.5 has made
switching between WIFI and cellular data somewhat better, but every now
and then I still have to toggle on/off flight mode to prod the cellular
connection into action.
