Sounds like PIA needs to fix their client? Are you installing via the repos or
from their installers / packages?

Private Internet Access VPN client doesn't work with Ubuntu 17.10, you
have to use some brains to get the built-in VPN for gnome to work, since
the application which works with 16.04 ubuntu doesn't work with the new
one. Could someone look into that.
