Have a look at the NFS howto performance section: http://nfs.sourceforge.net/nfs-howto/ar01s05.html In particular, check that you have sufficient threads (section 5.6) -- configure this is Ubuntu in /etc/default/nfs-kernel-server. I have 160 threads configured on a server in a similar configuration. (However, I've just had a look at my /proc/net/rpc/nfsd and the 'th' line is showing all zeros -- anyone know why?)
