Hello,
I'm trying to get a brand new installation of Ubuntu Server to authenticate
against AD.
Using aptitude, I've successfully installed sadms and its dependencies.
However, it always errors when trying to join domain.
So, I tried joining domain using 'net ads join'... and it works! But the

Server guys (me included) will only ask that whatever's the default in grub

Server guys are also (usually) much more aware with what's going on, so for
them they would appreciate a tool that will:

Go here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2
find grub-set-default and grub-reboot. These commands will be available if
you set grub.cfg according to the procedure in the section.

Sorry, forgot to mention that we'll be using 10.04 LTS.

Hello list!
We're going to deploy Axigen for our subsidiary company's email system.
Now, I want to split the storage into 4:
* Boot : ext2
* Swap
* Root : ext4
* Mailboxes : ?which?
The question: what filesystem should I use for the partition
containing the mailboxes? Ext4? XFS? Or somet
I've been following the discussion on what to include/exclude in the
Oneiric .iso, and a thought crossed my mind: Must we limit ourselves
to 1 CD?
I mean, yes not everyone wants to download a huge DVD .iso, but I
think downloading a pair of .iso's, 700MB + 100-something MB, wouldn't

Hello Kaushal.
I've been using Ubuntu Server as a gateway and firewall since the last
LTS before 10.04 LTS. Currently, my company's Internet gateway is
10.04.02 LTS, handling 4 Internet Connections (2Mbps, 2Mbps, 10Mbps,
1Mbps), outgoing *and* incoming.
You'll need to be familiar with iptables. A

I'll experiment on an unused XenServer host tomorrow, and report back here.
(And that begs a question: Just in case I am successful, may I create
an Ubuntu Wiki article explaining the how's?)

Hello!
I noticed that XenServer 5.6 fp 1 supports Ubuntu Lucid. It seems to
be able to pull the Xen-optimized kernel from
/ubuntu/dists/maverick/main/installer-i386/current/images/cdrom/xen/
and use that image to boot.
However, if I use the Maverick Minimal CD, apparently it will not pull

Hello,
I am going to deploy some Ubuntu-based servers on our cloud provider.
The cloud provider is using VMware, and I plan to deploy using the MinimalCD.
Post-installation, should I deploy "linux-server" or "linux-virtual" ?

Ah, thanks!
Important info like this should be in the Ubuntu wiki, methinks.

Hello!
I read at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ServerFaq that Ubuntu
Server has a kernel optimized for server usage.
How can I ensure that it's the Ubuntu Server kernel being installed if
I use the MinimalCD from
