Thanks for the tips about dist-upgrade (it worked), but my server is
still locking up.
So maybe it's not the kernel?
What else can I do besides backport to 7.10?

I've been receiving "BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 11s!
[kacpi_notify:45]" regularly since I upgrade to 8.04 and its degrading
my server's performance considerably.
In case anyone is unaware of what happens when there is a soft lockup,
