That'd work too, I suppose. I didn't see any bug that looked like this
in launchpad but I didn't check the Debian BTS. A 30s glance at that now
also doesn't reveal anything obvious. I think changing the default
location is cleaner and is what postfix is doing anyway.

I should note that I haven't actually tested that the patch works when
built into a package, etc. But making those changes in my
/etc/postfix/main.cf got rid of the error message.

FWIW, the mysql test suite can be temperamental and is known to fail in
random places when the machine load is high. It also cannot be run
concurrently with another mysql test suite on the same machine (hard
coded ports are used).

I too received the "subprocess new pre-removal script returned error
exit status 1" upon trying to install this package.
It appears that the /etc/init.d/mysql script fails to shutdown mysql (even from
the commandline).
As a workaround, I issued 'mysqladmin shutdown' and the mysql package
instal
I am not able to reproduce this. I created a database using
5.0.22-0ubuntu6.06.6 then used the above mysqldump command. Then I
upgraded to 5.0.22-0ubuntu6.06.8 and used the above dump command and
compared the resulting dumps. Only change was the 'Server version'.
This was not on a large database
So basically start squid when you bring up your network right?

For anyone experiencing this issue, a work around is to perform kill -1
on dhclient (prevents a new ip from being obtained). I performed a
