Actually, I didn't insert the username and password. When I did the
initial install of the Bacula packages a dialog came up asking for that
information. Since I didn't enter the values directly into the file I'm
assuming that whatever put up that dialog did. It's possible that I
clicked right

Since Hardy 8.04 is going to be a LTS release, I find it odd that Ubuntu
has not moved to the 5.2.5 version which per www.php.net was released
back on 08-Nov-2007.

I can confirm this. Right-Clicking on a Folder on a NTFS-Drive opens the
Folder Sharing Settings. Clicking Create Share gives the information,
that Nautilus needs to add some permissions to my folder in ordner to
share it. Clicking Add the permissions automatically does not work.

One more tidbit to throw on here with regards to shutting down open-
iscsi...
If open-iscsi is not shut down cleanly, it never flushes write caches to
disk... So it absolutely must be shut down properly or we potentially
loose data. I'm talking about caches between us and the physical
storage -

been recent upstream changes to nmbd to change its interface detection,
so this issue may be fixed in hardy.

The error you're experiencing is because Samba in Ubuntu 8.04 beta uses
stronger defaults for password negotiation. It appears that the
appliance you're connecting to is based on an old version of Samba that
only supports weak password encryption, so you will need to add the line

Thanks Mathias,
udev should not have a status function since it will incline people to
believe that running /etc/init.d/udev stop or /etc/init.d/udev start
will do something useful when infact they can seriously break a system.

Thanks, your suggestion fixed my problem connecting to the private
share, although the correct syntax is client lanman auth = yes. The
bizarre behavior I reported when connecting through the network browser
to the public share SD_MMC_c still exists, however.
