I don't mean to reopen this bug after it's (apparently) been fixed.
I was trying to setup a combined LDAP/Kerberos system today, and ran
into this exact problem. I'm running the latest version of Hardy with

In php5_5.2.6-2ubuntu1, the Depends: line for php-pear in debian/control
reads:

So apparently the current php-pear does depend on either php4-cli or
php5-cli. Is this insufficient? I could post a debdiff that just
changes this to
In fact, it seems that, unlike in Debian, libapache2-mod-php5 takes
precedence over suphp. It means that you cannot install both and use
suphp only on specific locations because mod-php5 will be called.
In Debian, this is not the case.

Revised the patch to also exclude bind-mounted filesystems (which will
always have the same df output as another local filesystem).
