I'm running a brand new Jaunty (desktop) and disabled GSSAPIAuthentication in
order to work around slow SSH logins, as discussed in other bugs and many
places on the web. However, /etc/ssh/ssh_config on install contains:

* CIFS does not have fmask/dmask options (that's for -t fat). It uses file_mode
and dir_mode. Try those to see if you get better results
* file_mode and dir_mode are only used if CIFS does not negociate CIFS Unix
