What version of samba packages are used ?
Please give the output of:
dpkg-query -W -f='${Package} ${Version} ${Source} ${Status}\n' | grep samba
A little more context information could help: What are you using Samba
for ? Just user shares ? Can you reproduce the issue or is it happening
randomly
Consider me confused on the basis of my earlier comment showing how to
configure Hardy so that iscsi volume mounts works consistently. It
ain't broke, why fix it?

No I haven't restarted from backup. The OS has only been installed
since Fall of 2008. The line you mentioned is included in the
initd./mysql script.
The rest of my /etc/mysql directory is:

Usershare having guest_ok=y cannot be mounted as guest. I have the default
smb.conf from Jaunty which includes:
usershare allow guests = yes
I tried creating such a share using both nautilus and net usershare. The
resulting file is identical:

I'm attaching a patch I made by taking all of grexk's patches (ppa1
through ppa3) from his ppa and porting them to the latest version of
open-vm-tools in karmic (which is version 2009.05.22-167859-3). Here's
to hoping this patch is acceptable for karmic!
