The standard location for rndc.key is, since it belongs to bind-Tools:
/etc/bind/rndc.key
It should be sufficient to add this whole directory to both: named and dhcpd in
apparmor.d
BTW: it would be nice if named used /etc/named for its configuration
files! Named and bind-tools are two things

Ok, they are good after all. Samba doesn't add a PTR record, so these
patches didn't help there. When the DNS doesn't know about the host,
it'll create a new A record for it on domain join, and that works with
these patches. So it was a false alarm.

I also see this. Have deployed 50 production VMs, it happened
approximately 10% of the time.
I'm using KVM with LVM and vm-builder; these options:
vmbuilder kvm ubuntu --hostname=vmbuilt --domain=manc.iws-hosting.co.uk
--raw=/dev/svs4/vmbuilt-disk --mem=512 --user=iweb --pass=xxx
--rootpass=xxx

I think that I'm going to fix this issue by removing the updates check from
cloud-init (bug 653220).
In 10.10 and later (and we're getting there on 10.04) images, there is
really no need for this check.

In my natty instance, /var/log/cloud-init.log was owned by root:root.
In the maverick instance, it is owned by syslog:adm.
I'm not sure what would have changed this. It seems I may need to
create the file with proper permissions on package install.

thanks, could you please open a new bug against libvirt in lucid,

Hi Cristian,
Thank you very much for bringing this patch to our attention. It is,
indeed, quite interesting, and I, too, very much have an interest in the
Ubuntu's server's energy efficiency.
There is an issue, here, though, in that ntp is an absolutely
fundamental package found on most Ubuntu
The Debian ntp package maintainers would like a patch to go into the
upstream project, and will not take this patch. Given the invasiveness
of the patch, Ubuntu will likewise wait for a proper fix from upstream.
Please feel free to take the issue up with upstream. Since the Debian
maintainers
